JOURDAN DEMUYNCK NAMED WEEK 5 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The week 5 Player of the Week is Jourdan Demuynck of Can’t Buy Respect. He put up a double-double of 29 points and 14 rebounds with 3 assists in their 85-80 win over Cheaters.
Can’t Buy Respect is technically a new team this year, but it’s made up of familiar players. Still, it looked like they might be doomed to the fate of so many rookie Drew League teams early this season, opening on a 4-game losing streak.
Jourdan Demuynck is a big part of the reason for their 2-game turnaround, scoring 20-plus in back-to-back tilts and adding the athleticism, speed, and scoring that they lacked in those early games.
For him, they’re a more suitable home for his play style than his own previous teams, which often lacked the size and defensive grit to hang onto the benefits of his shooting and slashing. When Can’t Buy Respect prioritizes ball security, and rim protection (courtesy of vet center Jayce Johnson, another transplant from teams that underutilized his advantages), they can stop the torrid comebacks that plagued them in games 1 through 4.
All at once, they’re looking like a real playoff threat, and Demuynck’s star power is starting to shine.
