New Williams is Nothing Short of a Revelation

Last summer, New Williams was an unexpected surprise, catching the Drew off guard with his gravity-defying dunks, many of them off of thrilling Frank Session lobs. His high-flying theatrics earned him the nickname Zipline for the height and hang time of those dunks, but as it turned out, the best was yet to come.

This year, New is nothing short of a revelation, showcasing an all-around game that illustrates his commitment to improvement. In Public Enemy’s 65-57 win against Undisputed on Sunday, New was the catalyst, contributing 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals to turn his team’s flagging fortunes around as they struggled with the early start time. In addition to his flashy hops, the 6’1 guard has added some range to his game, demonstrating a willingness to pull up from long range – and more importantly, the ability to hit, making 3 of 5 attempts. Public Enemy always had more weapons than they were ever given credit for; with these sort of improvements, it’s a whole new ballgame.
