Finals

  • I just want to say to all the participants - Thanks for a great season  we had our bumps in the road but over all it was a joyful journey and you made it possible!!

  •  The Seasoned Vets league  is now on the map we went from 10  to 16 teams in 1 year without flyers, banners etc to promote it, that is awesome!!

  • Big thanks to: D-Train for his music during the finals, Mike Lester who always is looking out for me, and last but not least the fans who come out every weekend to support us.

  • Reminder our youth Basketball league tips off this Saturday 2/2/08 it should be fun.

  • DREW LEAGUE '08 (our 35TH Season!!) Tips off in May.

Week 11

  • Happy New Year to everyone!! I hope and pray that all of you find prosperity, health, and peace of mind. 2007 is gone; let's look forward to enjoying 2008 and get rid of all the negative garbage that has been stored in our hearts & souls. Remember - basketball is a game of enjoyment, not life or death... We lost many friends in '07 let's make new friends in '08! - Commish

Week 9

  • Once again please come out and enjoy a Christmas Dinner 12- 3 this Saturday at the park

Week 8

  • Teams who have not paid their balance by Saturday (12/15/07) must bring it in by Wednesday (12/19/07) or be removed from further play.  As I stated before we would like to start ordering League T-Shirts & awards. We need to have it in.

  • Reminder - The Christmas Dinner is for everyone it will be served from Noon to 3pm on Sat 12/22/07 in our Recreation room so come out and enjoy the games and food!

     

  • Wednesday Night 40 & Over pick up Ballers- We are asking for a donation of at least $10.00 per participant to help with our Kids Christmas party, Tree, and Decorations. With your donation we will be able to do this for at least 75 kids.

     

  • I apologize for having to officiate 4 games we were short handed...

Week 7

  • Thanks everyone for the effort you displayed this weekend... everything went well!

  • Reminder all Rosters are final and League balances are due this Week we would like to start ordering league T Shirts but we need the final fees in.

     

  • Don't forget to have Christmas Dinner with us again Saturday 12/22/07 12-3pm in the Rec Room. All are invited.

     

  • Our Youth Basketball league starts 1/26/08. We're asking for Volunteer Coaches.

Week 6

 

- Reminder the deadline to switch teams is this weekend

 

- We will be cracking down on all the BS many of you have displayed to the Officials, Opponents and Staff... This will no longer be tolerated if you cannot conduct yourself better you as well as your team will be terminated from further league play.  This is not called the "Hood League" it is called the Seasoned Vets League. We are on the verge of having another story done on you guys by Bounce Magazine but we cannot have a reporter come down and all Hell is breaking out because a few people want to be bigger than the league. The Drew League has a reputation World Wide and we plan on keeping it that way.

 

- Don't forget to sign your kids up for the Kids N Sport Boys and Girls Basketball league held at Washington park. The league Starts Jan 08

  

- We are asking that each team please clear the bench at the end of your game so the next team can get ready to warm up also players items such as keys have come up missing due to the fact people are mistakenly grabbing the wrong items.

 

- We are asking that if you have Children attending the games please keep them from bringing there ball inside the gym ,we are having a difficult time resuming the game after the break.

Week 5

- Rumor has it that the Cheaters may be losing all everything guard Richard Clay... can the Cheaters survive this hit?  Rich says he is unhappy with his diminished role on the team and wants out -- please don't forget Cheaters are undefeated,  ranked #1, and he is a starter (can you say KOBE???) Maybe the Cheaters have learned their lesson: you can't have a team of STARS because that also comes with a team of EGOS. This comes at a time when the Cheaters play undefeated  & 3rd ranked Rebels this Saturday and Rich would have been assigned to "Mr. Offense" Cecil who just came off a 45 pt game (WOW!) -- Here are the teams I think he may play for (in order):
  1. Invaders - Russell Brown and Greg Kelly would love to have him but he would be option 3 behind DH Huey and Carl Fields.
  2.  J Squad - They need a guard like Rich to go with that great front line -- I THINK Coach Fleming will listen
  3.  High Energy - If He signs with these guys it would kill the Cheaters and help Weakley and Mo
  4.  Showtime -  Darryl (AKA "Mark Cuban") would love to take a shot at this one and could pull it off.
  5.  Rebels - Rich and Cecil lead the Rebels to victory over defending Champs Cheaters. Hmmmm... sounds interesting!

Week 4

- Coming soon the Kids in Sports Youth Basketball league headed by Dino and staff.  If you're interested in bringing in a team or have kids who wish to play stay tuned. League play starts right here at Washington Park in January... Boys & Girls.

Week 3

- Just a reminder please arrive to your game on time at least 15 minutes before tip off, we have a full 8 games to play and we want to stay on schedule.

 

- The Weekend of Nov. 9th & 10th we will be off.

 

- Anyone who threatens an official can and will be terminated from further league play.  This is not a wild & crazy program and those who would like to have a league like that need to move on.

 

- We ask all teams to please wear the same number each game so that our staff can have the books ready and the announcer can call you by the right name.
