The Drew League is back for a 42nd season starting next month!
Saturday May 16th, 28 teams will get rolling, in what promises to be yet another season of fierce and entertaining competition on the hardwood.
The team with the bullseye will be the reigning, defending champions of 2014, Hank’s Houdini’s All-Stars. Last season’s championship game was an appropriate ending to Season 41, as Houdini’s disciplined squad featuring Antonio Biglow, Corey Allen and Kwame Alexander held on against Craig Smith, Jerome Jordan and the rest of C.O.A. to win 83-82 in a controversial, thrilling finish.
The semifinal round from 2014 was arguably better than the championship game. C.O.A. eliminated 2014 Coach of the Year Casper Ware’s Hank’s Cheaters 2 83-72, but what followed was a 4OT game between Houdini’s All-Stars and the top-seeded Cheaters. Corey Allen would score 40 points to help defeat a Cheaters team coached by Ware and led by Baron Davis and 2014 MVP Mike Efevberha by a score of 86-85.
Eight new teams will take the floor in 2015, including the return of LAUNFD. As always, there will be wall-to-wall highlights all summer – the kind you get only from the unmatched intensity demonstrated by Los Angeles’ deep pool of talent.
There will be plenty to look forward to this season, so make sure you are there. As always…no excuse, just produce.
