End of the Season News

 

- Congrats to all who participated in the 3rd annual Seasoned Vets League, it was a blast for 4 months you guys came and played hard and proved that this generation of 40s is not what it use to be guys came in ready to compete and we really had a great league.  

 

- Big ups to The New Champs J Squad, all year everyone talked about The Dogs, Cheaters, Invaders, and Gardena Exp. -- But Donald Fleming told me before the play offs began they were going to win it and you guys really deserve it.

 

- Reminder 2009 50 & Over league coming soon

 

Playoffs Quater Finals

 

- Please do not park illegally in the parking lot, County Police will be ticketing you!

 

- Championship game will be played Saturday 1/31/09 TBA

 

- 50&Over league coming Spring 09 - Get your teams together.

 

Playoffs Rd. 1

 

- Reminder no games scheduled for Saturday 1/17 games will resume Sunday 1/18 at 1:00

 

- Washington Park Youth Basketball league will tip off Saturday January 24th, AGES 5-17

 

- Coming This Spring 50 and Over Basketball league, get your squads together games will be played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Week 11

 

- We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. We hope you enjoyed the Christmas Dinner we provided this past Saturday.

 

- Once again I would like to remind you that no team is promised victories or Championships,

and will not dictate the assignments of Officials

 

- We have 16 teams in this league and the so call Elite Teams are doing all the crying,

 

- I respect those teams that are 1-10, 2-9, 3-8 they show up every week trying to win but more times than not they don't but they continue to support the program in a positive manner, some of you guys had better look in the mirror and question yourself- COMMISH

 

Week 10

 

- Best wishes to Jumpin Jeff Calhoun who was injured this past week (Dislocated Shoulder)

 

- Reminder Our Annual Christmas Dinner will be this Saturday Dec. 20th here at Washington Park 12- 3pm in the Rec Room, all is invited.

Week 9

- Reminder the Washington park Annual Christmas Dinner will take place Saturday Dec.20th

everyone is invited

 

- The Commish has a $2.00 ticket Raffle, please help support the kids by purchasing a ticket

the winning prize is a pair of lower level tickets to the Christmas day Celtics vs Lakers at Staples, the drawing will take place Dec 22nd- winner need not be present- see The Commish for tickets.

 

- Remaining fees must be in this week.

 

Week 8

- Fellas make sure you understand this, Alcohol is not permitted at the Park please do not come near the Gym with your Drinks because it is getting out of hand, I was recently written up regarding this matter and I will not allow the partying to effect my job!! if this continues we may have to postponed the league til further notice.

 

- Please note the dates for December are off 1 day for example Saturday 12/7 should be 12/6

 

- Remember league balance is due Dec 6 Everyone have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving.

 

- Cross Division games results 4 to 4 - So far the Divisions are even- WOW!

 

Week 7

 

- Reminder remaining fees must be paid by Dec 6.- No Exceptions!

 

- Rosters are now frozen - Ride with what you got!

 

- Cross division play is now in effect- let's see which division wins more games.

 

Week 6

- Those of you who are making complaints about the Officials please take notice we will not let you dictate who Officiates the games.  As Commissioner I will consider all requests for what ever reason it may be but at the end it will be my decision, I have spoken to and removed some Officials who do not want to run the floor, are late to games, and/or are being biased.  But as Players and Coaches please do not use the Officials as a cop out, just play hard with Class and dignity.

 

- League Fee balance is due this week and Rosters are frozen after this weekend.

 

- We ask that everyone please try to arrive early this weekend because parking will be limited due to a program in the Rec Building on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Week 5

- Reminder the deadline is approaching to finalize your roster, remember you can only change teams once prior to the deadline Nov.16,2008

 

- Please do not try and bring in players who are not the right age because it will catch up with you.

 

- 12 Men max on the Roster.

 

- This week's feature game Sunday 2:10 #3 J Squad vs #5 Dogs

 

Week 4

- Please check out the latest Bounce Magazine it has a Drew article in it

 

- Reminder Rosters are set Nov 16th and league balances are due.

 

Week 3

 

- A reminder no games scheduled for Saturday 10/25/08

 

- Sadly we say good-bye to Hayes Pullard who passed away last week.

 

- Please parents we ask that you keep your kids off the Court when games are being played.

 

- This week all games are played Sunday 10/26/080-  8 games starting at 10am

 

Week 2

 

- Our Condolences go out to Bob Watson and his Family who lost his Sister last week to Cancer.

 

- The league has just learned today 10/13/08 that Hayes Pullard passed away earlier today, Let's all Pray for his Family. I did not Know Hayes as long as many of you had but just the way he conducted his self on and off the Court was always with class, I ask that we dedicate the remaining season to him and his family.

 

- Please fellas remember all unsportsmanlike Technical fouls is a $10 minimum fine NO EXCEPTIONS!

 

Week 1

 

- We ask all of you to please say a prayer for Hayes Pullard who suffered a Heart Attack Monday evening, many of you know Hayes as the well condition 61 year old Athlete who played hard and could shoot the lights out.

 

- The first weekend of games were great everyone came out and did the very best they could do and that is all we can ask for.

 

- All Players please make sure you sign the Waiver before participating.
